Peer Mediation - School of the Year

Age range: 7-10 years 11-18 years Criteria that has introduced and sustained peer mediation for at least 1 year to empower young people to resolve conflict where peer mediators demonstrate the commitment, teamwork and skills needed to mediate including: active listening, impartiality, a calm and confident approach, effective questioning to elicit thoughts, feelings and needs, and a command of the stages of mediation where staff and young people experience a safer, more peaceful community thanks to peer mediation

The Peer Mediation Network


Peer mediation is conflict resolution for young people by young people.


Peer mediators work in hundreds of primary and secondary schools in the United Kingdom and around the world. They provide a space where young people can practice real peace making.


The Peer Mediation Network supports them with training resources and recognition.


The Peer Mediation Network is a group of organisations committed to promoting the best use of peer mediation throughout the United Kingdom. It is proud to support this award in tribute to all these young peacemakers.
